Obituary

Willie Ingram Larkins, Jr., the first of three siblings, was born on December 15, 1942 in Tampa, Florida to Willie Larkins Sr. and Cora Belle Larkins (who preceded him in death). "Billy" came up through the ranks in the AME Church and was converted at an early age. Billy began taking piano lessons at an early age, and eventually became quite an accomplished pianist. As a youth, he won many awards for his outstanding musical talent. Billy was a life-long member of Allen Temple AME Church, where he served as musician for over fifty years. Billy received his early education in the Hillsborough County Public School System, where he graduated from Middleton High School in 1960. He furthered his education at Florida A & M University where he received his B.A. Degree in Music Education. After graduating from FAMU, he began his teaching career in Sylvania, Georgia. It was there where he met and married his first wife Hattie. Billy subsequently returned to Tampa and immediately became employed with the School Board of Hillsborough County, where he was employed as a Music Instructor for nearly forty years. In 1994 he married Beatrice Williams, whom he shared a long and adoring marriage with. After his retirement in 2002, Billy dedicated more time to playing for Allen Temple and Bethel AME Churches as well as many local soloists, events and programs on an as-needed basis. His well known classical style of music will be missed. Billy is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Beatrice Larkins, daughters, Mishawne Wright (Frampton), Sharmon Williams, grandchildren; Johnnyne Williams, Churmie C. Black, Jr., Darius Williams, Alexis Williams, and Taliah Baker; great grandchild, Jayden Williams; Sister, Coreatha B. Larkins; brother, Frederick W.
