Obituary

Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Willie S. Tharpe of Tampa who passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 will be held Saturday, February 21st, 11:00 a.m. at New Friendship M.B. Church, 3201 E. Lake Avenue, Rev. H.L. Daniels pastor, officiating. Mrs. Willie S. Tharpe attended Middleton High school and graduated c/o 64'. She later in enrolled Bethune Cookman College as a student in their sociology program and graduated Cum Laude in c/o 68'. After college she was initiated into Delta Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. as an undergraduate and became a charter member of Tampa Metropolitan Alumni Chapter April 21, 2003. Early in her career she became a fashion designer for her own brand name Anisha B. Original. She worked in the Mental health field as a counselor for over 30 years. She also worked in Supervisor Elections for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by parents, Hinton Stephens, Sr. and Idella Stephens; sister, Elizabeth Davis; husband, Jerome A. Barker and father-in-law, Roy Robinson. She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories with sisters, Alberta Worthen (Horace), Eartha Hills and Deborah Cooper Stephens; brothers, Earl Lawton, Hinton Stephenson, Jr. and Adali Stephens; aunts, Edna Taylor and Lillie S. Taylor; mother-in-law, Fannie M. Robinson; sisters-in-law, Deborah Jonesia, Delores Rudolph of Miami, Gloria Adams and Jessie Dupins of Tallahassee, Florida; brothers-in-law, Michael Peterson (Renee), Daryn Robinson (Angie) and Hubert Davis; godchildren, Dana Manning, Kimberly Johnson and Otis Cooper II; best friends, Lucy Hector and Rose Bilal and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
