Obituary

Sister Willie Mae Thompson Homegoing services for Sister Willie Mae Thompson of 2412 S. Dundee Street, who passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, Bishop James E. Byrd, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Sister Thompson was the daughter of the late Walter Levi and Minnie Starks and born on April 8, 1930 in Clayton, Alabama. During her early years she moved to Tampa, Florida, where she met Walter Thompson, Jr. and fell in love and then married. They were blessed with two daughters and one son. Willie Mae found the Lord and was converted. She joined Christ University of Love Church in Clearwater, Florida and remained a faithful member until she departed this life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Levi and Minnie Starks, brothers, Henry Morris, Sam Starks, and Almos Starks, sisters, Merthy Kate Fair and Inell Mikell. She leaves to cherish precious memories of her with: 2 daughters, Marilyn Pettiway (James), and Delorse Osborne and son, Edward Thompson, all of Tampa; one sister, Eledora Thomas (Johnny) of Tampa, FL; two brothers, Rovell Starks (Bernice) of St. Petersburg, FL, and Matthew Starks (Lillie Mae) of Tampa, FL; seven grandchildren, Angela McKinnes, Anthony Starks, Jami Lynn Pettiway, Jacqueline Patty, Tamesha Thompson all of Tampa FL, Edward Thompson Jr. of Orlando, FL and Tameka Jones of Arizona; eighteen great grandchildren; special great grandsons, Jerel Thompson and Dwayne Wiggins Jr. both of Tampa, FL; three great-great grandchildren, Davarian, Maley'a and Zaakaria; special uncle, John Starks and wife, Lillie Lou and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The remains will repose at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, January 2nd from 5-8 pm. The family will receive friends from 5-6 pm. The funeral cortege will arrange from 2412 S. Dundee Street.
