Obituary

As the Mayor of the City of Tampa, it gives me great pleasure to congratulate you on your 100th Birthday on Friday, December, 6 2019, and celebrated with your beloved family and friends at the Concordia Village of Tampa, including your older sister, Gertrude Wilson Calhoun, age 101 and eight months. I wish you all the best on this very special occasion. You are fortunate to have witnessed many events throughout the world that some of us have only read about or learned from individuals such as yourself. She was born in Dunnellon, Florida in 1919, to Ed and Eddie Jane Wilson, you have made Tampa your home since the early 1940's, where you met and married the late James P. Williams and raised your two children Joseph and Jeanette, and where you were a valued employee of Maas Brothers department store.

You are a faithful member of First Baptist Church of College Hill, served as a Deaconess and on the Senior Jolly group, and your beautiful voice has been a part of the church choir. You are well-known for your deep love of your family that includes six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, for your caring personality, your elegance and fashion sense, and as an accomplished cook, especially your popular potato salad. The Tampa community is most appreciated of all you have contributed over the century. I hope you will take time to reflect on the many contributions you have made to our community, state and nation as you celebrate this significant milestone birthday. Again, Happy Birthday. May the future bring added memories to cherish and may you continue to take strength in the ideals that have inspired you over the years.
