Homegoing Service for Mr. Willis Ronald Johnson of Tampa, who passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, will be held on Saturday, December 5th, 11:00 a.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, with Rev. Michael Neely, officiating. The interment will be in Florida National Cemetery Bushnell, Florida. Willis was born on August 19, 1946 in Pelham, Tennessee to Carnell and Ann Johnson. The family soon settled in Michigan where Ronnie was educated in the Detroit public school system, graduating from Eastern High School. As a young adult starting his life's journey he moved to Tennessee and on to Texas. While in Texas he enlisted in the United Sates Air Force. He rose to the Rank of Sgt. 1st class as a Fire Protection Specialist, receiving commendation's for various acts of bravery. Reenlisting two or more times. Ronnie served his country in many places all over the world, such as Vietnam, Korea, Japan and Hawaii. Finally, ending at MacDill Air Force in Florida where he was honorably discharged. In some aspect still serving his country he was employed at James Haley V.A. Hospital working in dietary, later retiring in 1995. Ron was also a member of the American Legion Post 167 for a number of years where he was loved by many people. Ronnie enjoyed working in his garden and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carnell and Annester Johnson; sisters, Barbara and Sheila Johnson; brother, Carlon Johnson and granddaughter, Sheronda Sisk. He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife of 14 years, Jacquelyn Smith Johnson; children, Utonda Johnson and Toynita Johnson; step children, Rodney Livingston (Tashi) and Sherry Robinson (Clinton); grandchildren, Jemiia (Jeffrey), Laron, Kiesha, William, DJ, Patrice (Golden) and Zakiya; great grandchildren, Zoe, Devin, Mya, Jeffrey, JR, Pete III and Amari; mother-in-law, Louise Smith; sister, Annett Johnson and Bonita Harris; aunts, Hattie Anderson of Detroit, Michigan and Marie Hill of Eagle Ridge, Alaska; mother of his children, Carol Johnson; and a host of other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, December 4th from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
