Mr. Woodrow W. Wells, Jr. was born on October 15, 1945, in Boston, Georgia, to the late Woodrow W. Wells, Sr. and Bertha Wells. He received his early education in Sebring, Florida, where he attended E.O. Douglas High School and graduated with the class of 1963. Following high school, he furthered his education by attending business and agricultural school in Tennessee. In the early 1990s, Mr. Wells became a dedicated member of Corinthian Lodge #44 F & A.M. (P.H.A.) in Ossining, New York. His leadership and commitment were recognized when he was appointed Worshipful Master in 2001. He remained a proud and respected Mason throughout his life. Affectionately known as "Woody," he was a man of many passions. He enjoyed fishing, sports, and visiting the casino. He was a devoted fan of the New York Knicks, Yankees, and Giants, and he also enjoyed staying informed by watching CNN and MS NOW. Woody will be remembered for his loving spirit and remarkable character. He was kind, funny, intelligent, and incredibly generous. Known for being thoughtful, selfless, courageous, and passionate in all that he pursued, he also carried a directness that made him both respected and admired by those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow W. Wells, Sr. and Bertha Wells; brothers, Andrew Wells, Phillip Wells, Robert Wells, Lewis Wells and Alphonso Wells; and sisters, Alice Wells and Barbara Wells.
He leaves cherished memories to his wife, Jocelyn Wells; sons, Travis D. Wells (Carina) and Brett A. Wells; daughter, Ivorey Wells; grandchildren, Travis T. Wells, Bianca Wells, Iyahna Wells and Iyarah Wells; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A phrase that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him was, "Listen at me." Woody's legacy of love, strength and authenticity will continue to live on through all who had the privilege of knowing him.
