A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Yvonne Gates of Tampa, FL who passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019 will be held on Saturday, August 10th, 2:00 p.m. at St. John Cathedral, 3401 Bishop Newkirk Way, Pastor Dwight Newkirk, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Yvonne was born on February 28, 1958 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Roosevelt Gates and Clemmie T. Basken. Yvonne enjoyed playing cards, coaching basketball, softball and special tutoring. She was preceded in death by her mother, Clemmie T. Gates; father, Roosevelt Gates; sister, Movita Gates and son, Terrell Dionne Shaw. She leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories with her children, Travis Carrington-Gates and Tamera Da'nai Shaw; brother, Ashton Gates; sisters, Selander G. Owens (Reginald) and Sharon Wells (Charles); aunt, Mary Alice Basken; uncle, Rev. Lester Basken (Irene) and a host of loving nieces, nephews, god-children, family and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, August 9th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
