Mother Zelmetta Antonio Hazzard Copeland was born in Freeport, Long Island, New York on November 14, 1927 to the union of Peter and Mabel Antonio. She was the third child of the four children born in the family and they preceded her in death, Buster and Joe Antonio and Rev. Lillie Mae Moore.
Mother Zelmetta Copeland was raised from a child in the Church of God in Shreveport New York. She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior under Billy Graham experience in 1961 and served the Lord all her life. Mother Copeland was affectionate called "Zel" and she worked all her life in four states for the National Association of the church of God Administration.
In 1945 she met and married Mr. John Hazzard and from this union three boys were born, Kirby and Tyrone who preceded her death and Rev. Wayne Hazzard who resides in New York City. After which she married Mr. Albert Copeland who preceded her death.
Mother Zelmetta Antonio Hazzard Copeland moved to St. Petersburg Florida in 1985 and became an active and faithful member of 34th Street Church of God. She was the driver for many years, driving the saints from St. Petersburg Florida to Tampa Florida to worship God. She loved her pastor, her church and the saints of God. Mother Zelmetta Antonio Hazzard Copeland was a faithful and devoted member of 34th Street Church of God until her transition on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 4:31 A.M.
Mother Zelmetta Antonio Hazzard Copeland leaves to cherish her memory; her son Rev. Wayne Hazzard, a great nephew Mr. Damon Martin; a host of cousins, Guy, George, Basil, Rhonda and Joette Gibbs. A special son and daughter Deacon Elliot and Rev. Dayna Gray; her caregiver, Rev. Jennifer Loretta Joseph and her special son and pastor, Bishop Thomas Scott. A host of friends, Rev. Victor and Veronica Whaley, Sabrina Christie, Jessie Mae parks, Mildred King, Lyvonia Green, Dr. Maxine Woodside, Sanrel Short, Naomi Thomas and Pam Dorsey.
