Homegoing service for Mrs. Susie E. Bass, age 88, of Tampa, who entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 31, 2012, will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 29th St, Tampa, FL 33610. Senior Pastor Evan Burrows will officiate. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. She was born in St. Mary, Georgia on July 16, 1924 to the late Frank and Georgia Coleman. She was married to the late Charlie Bass for over 30 years. Mrs. Susie was a dedicated employee of the Hillsborough County Schools for 12 years. She retired and returned home as a full-time mother and housewife. Mrs. Susie received the Lord as her Savior at an early age. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of College Hill for over 40 years where she was recognized for her dedicated service to the Food Ministry. Mrs. Susie was a pioneer of the College Hill community, and a mother to all who lived there. She will be fondly remembered for the stories she told, her great sense of humor, and how she was filled with so much joy and laughter. She was preceded in death by her sister; Rose Overton and brothers; Earl Coleman, Leon Mohammad, and George Coleman. Mrs. Susie leaves to cherish her memories a loving sister, Annie Bright, her sons, Louie Hall (Carrol) of Miami, FL, Charles Bass, Alton Bass, and Blair Bass (Tammy) of Tampa, FL; her daughters, Leta Bond (Christopher) of Columbus, Ohio, Yvonne Bass and Ovita Dove of Tampa, FL; her nieces, Audrey Jackson, Gwen Tripplett, and Donna Overton; nephews, Melvin Doyle and Mark Overton; 9 Grandchildren; 17 Great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren and devoted friends, Sarah Mitchell, Lorraine Epps, Betty Thomas and Rayfield Nix; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home, on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 5-8 pm. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday.
